When you collect responses from your own audience, SegmentOS gives you several ways to share your survey: a public link, website embeds, and a QR code. You can also export your response data from the same place.

When to use it

Use self-distribution when you have your own audience to reach — an email list, social followers, customers in your app, or people in a physical space. If you would rather buy verified responses with demographic targeting, see Buying responses from the audience panel.

How to share your survey

  1. Open your survey in the builder and go to the Distribute tab.
  2. Choose how you want to share using the tabs across the top: Link, Embed, QR Code, or Export.
  3. For Link, copy the Public Survey Link with the Copy button. Anyone with the link can take the survey.
  4. For Embed, copy either snippet: iFrame Embed to drop the survey into your HTML as an inline frame, or JavaScript Embed for a more flexible injection anywhere on your page.
  5. For QR Code, display or print the generated code; scanning it opens the survey directly. Use Download QR to save the image.
  6. For Export, download your collected data as Raw Responses (.csv) or an Analytics Summary (.csv) for further analysis.

Tips & best practices

  • The public link, embeds, and QR code all point to the same survey, so you can mix channels in one campaign.
  • Use the QR code on printed materials, posters, or screens where typing a URL is impractical.
  • The JavaScript embed is best when you need the survey to load dynamically or sit inside a more complex page; the iFrame embed is simpler for static HTML.
  • Test the link yourself before sharing widely to confirm logic, branding, and translations look right.
  • Control repeat submissions and response limits in the Settings tab before you distribute.

Panel surveys are different

If your survey was set up to buy responses from the audience panel, self-distribution is intentionally disabled. The Distribute tab shows a "This is a panel survey" notice, and only the Export tab is available — public links, embeds, and QR codes are turned off to protect sampling and data quality. Responses are fielded automatically through your purchased audience.

Plan availability

Sharing your survey by link, embed, or QR code is available on all plans (Free, Premium, and Pro). CSV / XLSX export requires Premium — Free users see a locked banner with an upgrade prompt; Premium and Pro can export raw responses and the analytics summary. Free accounts are also subject to a 5-survey lifetime limit and 500 responses per month, while Premium and Pro are unlimited.
