Driver analysis answers the question "what predicts a good outcome?" Choose an outcome — like your NPS, a satisfaction rating, or a yes/no — and SegmentOS ranks which answers to your other questions are most associated with a positive result.
Where to find it
Open a study's results page and select the Drivers tab (between Segment and Respondents).
How it works
- Pick an Outcome from the dropdown (NPS, rating, yes/no, or single-choice).
- SegmentOS defines a "positive" result automatically:
- NPS → promoters (9–10)
- Ratings/sliders → top-2-box (the two highest values)
- Yes/no or choice → the value you select as "positive"
- It then computes, for every other answer, the share of people who landed on the positive outcome, and compares it to the baseline rate.
How to read it
Each driver shows the lift in points and the rate, for example:
- +26 pts "Mobile app" → 78% promoters — Most important feature?
- −18 pts "Price" → 34% promoters — What matters most?
A positive lift means people who gave that answer are more likely to reach the positive outcome than average; a negative lift means less likely. The baseline (e.g. "52% promoters") is shown so the lift is interpretable.
Sample size
Drivers needs enough data to be meaningful — roughly 25+ responses overall and a handful per answer. Below that you'll see an "Early signal" badge or a prompt to collect more responses. This is population-level analysis, independent of any active segment.
Tips
- Use drivers to prioritize: the answers with the biggest positive lift are your levers to grow the outcome.
- Pair with Segmenting your results to see whether a driver holds within a specific group.
